Guillermo del Toro Reveals Partnership with THQ

Famous movie director, Guillermo del Toro has revealed that he indeed has partnered a deal with developer THQ.  With del Toro’s portfolio of bringing the imagination to life on the silver-screen, his relationship with THQ will definitely bring some fresh perspective on the gaming industry.

Guillermo del Toro told MTV that his game is going to be huge, with “huge world creation and long deadlines.”  The deal that he signed with THQ, allows for a three-year development cycle to ensure that the title gets the big treatment.  So we can expect his first title to hit shelves in 2013.

What type of game can we expect from del Toro? He admits that he “adores” Left 4 Dead and plays it as a family game with his two “wingmen,” who happen to be his daughters.  So due to his interests in zombies and his ability to create dark movies, del Toro tells us we can expect something along the same lines.

“It’s horror…but it’s a very different type of horror game. It’s not survival horror. It’s truly a strange, geeky mix. It’s a Lovecraftian thing. Let’s leave it at that.”

An official announcement should follow in the near future, and we’ll be sure to bring more news of del Toro’s first gaming masterpiece as soon as we learn of it.

Guillermo Del Toro is well known for his visionary works with Pans Labyrinth, and Hellboy’s I and II.  If you haven’t seen these movies yet, you need to stop punishing yourself and let del Toro thoroughly entertain your imagination.
