DICE Calls Battlefield 3 Competition Lazy; Issues Warning

When Electronic Arts and DICE announced Battlefield 3, gamers immediately praised the new direction the series was taking; a stunning new engine in the form of Frostbite 3, which we’ve already seen a few great glimpses of. Now, developer DICE has criticized the game’s competition by calling them “lazy” with various other shooters sticking to their same engine, same roots and more.

DICE general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson recently told Official PlayStation Magazine:

Our competitors are getting lazy. They’re using the same engine, the same recipe for building a game. At some point you need to take that leap. I haven’t seen them take that leap since a long time ago. We are doing that now. They had better watch out. We are coming for them.

Troedsson continued:

Our competitors keep building very, very high tempo games. We want to tell a story with more drama curves. It’s not about pumping round after round for six hours.

Battlefield 3 is currently scheduled for a release this fall. For more on the game, be sure to visit PlayStation LifeStyle’s previous coverage of the forthcoming highly anticipated shooter.
