After a rumored announcement in an Xbox magazine, Capcom have officially revealed Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Developed by SOCOM: Confrontation‘s Slant Six Games, the game will be coming later this year.

Raccoon City is set during the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3 and revisits many of the old locations from the games and  will reunite players with many of the old characters. You’ll be experiencing the story from a new perspective, though, and you’ll have a chance to alter the normal course of events. For example, the Umbrella Security Services will get a chance to hunt down and kill Leon Kennedy. Players take on the role of Umbrella Corporation commandos or U.S. special forces soldiers sent into the city – as Umbrella Corporation your aim is to destroy all evidence that they caused the viral outbreak while as the US, you are trying to uncover the evidence.

Full previews of the game will be in numerous upcoming magazines, including GameReactor and the Official Xbox Magazine.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is currently scheduled for this winter.
