PSP Claims 7 of Japan’s 20 Best Sellers; Resident: “It’s Like I Live on the Moon, Man.”

For the second time in February, a PSP game tops the weekly software sales chart. Last time, it was the new Suikoden game; this time, it’s 3D fighting game Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave.

In fact, there are a total seven PSP games in the top 20, tying it for first place with the 3DS. Add in the PS3’s six games, and the entire top 20 is occupied by only three different machines. Check it out:

1. (PSP) Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave
2. (3DS) Harvest Moon: The Land of Origin
3. (PS3) Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Storm Generation
4. (PSP) I Don’t Have Many Friends: Portable
5. (PS3) Asura’s Wrath
6. (PSP) Nendoroid Generation
7. (3DS) Super Mario 3D Land
8. (3DS) Mario Kart 7
9. (3DS) Monster Hunter 3G
10. (PS3) The Idolmaster: Gravure For You! Vol.5
11. (PS3) Binary Domain
12. (PSP) Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 5: Kazahanaki
13. (3DS) Resident Evil: Revelations
14. (PS3) Touch, Shot! Love Application
15. (3DS) Theatrhythm Final Fantasy
16. (PS3) Gal Gun
17. (3DS) New Love Plus
18. (PSP) Samurai Warriors 3 Z Special
19. (PSP) Moujuutsukai to Oujisama: Snow Bride Portable
20. (PSP) Suikoden: The Spinning 100 Years

Hardware charts show an excellent week for PS3, Vita taking a slide, and 3DS still dominating:

3DS – 76,322
PS3 – 27,111
PSP – 15,928
Vita – 11,186
Wii – 7,878
DS- 1,639
360 – 1,508
PS2 – 1,269

The Vita’s hardware sales have been slipping little by little, and one has to wonder if it will eventually fall below 10,000 for a week. No matter how Sony spins it, that would not be a good message.
