Details on the next Splinter Cell title are few and far between, but it looks like that will change very soon, as Ubisoft Toronto is pouring all of their efforts into the next major installment.
In an interview with CVG, studio head Jade Raymond elaborated on where Ubisoft plans to take Splinter Cell 6, sharing a few hints as to what may be in store for Sam Fisher.
It will have all of the action flick elements for sure, but we’re trying to also explore something a little bit more interesting that is actually one of the themes that’s at the root of the franchise historically, but never has been surfaced so much.
Raymond went on to point out that all of the studio’s resources are currently being poured into this game, as plans for a new IP have been shelved for the time being.
We’re not actually working on a big new IP yet within the studio. It’s one of the mandates and we’re definitely starting up some things in that direction, but we’re not working on a big new IP yet. Right now we’re 100% focussed on Splinter Cell.
