When Saints Row IV launches on August 20th in North America and August 23rd in Europe, it will easily be one of the craziest games of not only this year, but the entire console generation (check out the below video for proof, NSFW). This is thanks to numerous out-of-left-field ideas like making the main character President of the United States, battling aliens, all while having access to a host of super powers.
As we get towards the end of this console generation, the future of the Saints Row franchise is unclear, with Scott Phillips, Design Director on Saints Row IV, telling GameReactor that Volition is “considering Saints Row IV sort of the end of that saga of this character and the Saints as they are.”
Hope isn’t lost though for a Saints Row V, as Volition hopes there will be one, while also hoping that “there’s fans for future games.” And if there is a sequel, Scott thinks “they will probably continue in a different direction.”
Are you going to be buying both Saints Row IV and Grand Theft Auto V this year? Just one? Neither? Let us know in the comments below.
