Dark Souls 2 Beta in North & South America Doesn’t Require Registration, 5000 Players Accommodated on October 12th

While people with access to the European PlayStation Network have been able to purchase a Dark Souls 2 Closed Beta Registration Ticket, those of us in North and South America have had to wait before finding how we’ll be participating in the beta that starts on October 12th.

Well, it turns out that no registration is required, as Namco Bandai and Sony will be sending out PSN messages to “select players” (the Namco Bandai Community Manager took to Reddit and explained they will be given to “people with Dark Souls saved data, PlayStation Plus members, and more”) with a download code prior to the beta. It will be a first-come, first-served beta, so if you do get a message with the code, don’t delay.

On October 12th, they will be allowing up to 5000 people play through the beta, with that number expanding on October 26th. Further details are expected soon, so stay tuned.

Dark Souls 2 will be released in March 2014.
