Grand Theft Auto V Day One Update Download Issues on PS4 Reported (Update 3)

Update 3:

Everything should be working fine now, with Rockstar saying:

At this time, PlayStation 4 users should no longer have issues downloading the patch. All character migrations are now working on PlayStation 4, and affected PlayStation 3 users can play GTA Online as normal. This issue will be addressed for Xbox One and Xbox 360 users by tomorrow.

Update 2:

Rockstar revealed that Sony increased the number of PS4 servers the update can be downloaded from:

Sony have increased the number of servers that the PlayStation 4 patch can be download from to reduce errors and make the patch more accessible. Please try the patch download again; if you still see an error, close GTAV completely and try to install the patch.

Update:

To help address the GTA Online transfer issue, Rockstar is issuing a new patch for the game on PS4 and PS3. If you receive the CE-32937-4 error code, Rockstar says, “Please attempt to download the patch again later today.”

Original Story:

To go along with the launch of Grand Theft Auto V today, Rockstar released a day one update that takes up 1.14GB and includes “some last tweaks and optimization fixes for game day.” They add, “In order to experience the game properly, please make sure you install this Update before playing (like all Title Updates, it will be applied automatically as long as you are connected to the internet).”

Unfortunately, people have taken to the Rockstar Support website to report that they cannot download the update on PlayStation 4 and are unable to connect to GTA Online as a result, with error code CE-32937-4 popping up:

I just installed GTA5 on my PS4 and played the story mode for few minutes.

After that I wanted to try the GTA Online mode but it said I need to download the update from PSN. Then the notification popped up and said can’t download the GTA V update. It stops every few second while downloading and have start over…

I restarted the PS4 and still same…

While Rockstar has yet to respond to this thread, a few users have offered up potential solutions:

  1. Go to main GTAV game tile on dashboard. (XMB)
  2. Press ‘options’ then ‘check for update’.
  3. Select ‘go to downloads’ then select your pending update.
  4. Press ‘X’ to retry.

I was also getting the error code just by retrying from the ‘notifications’ screen. This method worked first time for me.

And:

So here is what worked for me:

  1. Delete the failed update file
  2. Start game (it will try to download again, delete failed update file again, without closing the game)
  3. Have the game running in single player, press the PS button, hit “check for updates” on the game.
  4. The file is now downloading (game is still running single player at the same time)
  5. Download complete, quit game and restart.

Really hope this can help others as I understand how frustrating this problem is.

There’s also a video with another solution:

It’s important to note that these are all user solutions and nothing official has come from Rockstar.

Have you encountered this issue? Did any of the solutions work?
