Treyarch Confirms They Aren’t Developing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for PS3 or Xbox 360 (Update)

Update (June 9):

Activision confirmed today that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is releasing on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this November.

Check out full details over here.

Original Story:

Yesterday, Activision and developer Treyarch confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Friday, November 6.

During the preview event for media, Treyarch showed off the game on all three systems, with Studio Head Mark Lamia saying:

There are no ‘ports’. The game is made on multiple platforms, it’s the beginning of a new generation and we’re showing it to you on all these platforms, to dispel some of the misconceptions about development.

As for Black Ops 3 on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, Lamia added, “We’re working on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. That’s it.”

When Eurogamer contacted Activision about the game appearing on PS3 or 360, they were told that there were no more platform announcements to be made at this time.

While there’s always a chance Black Ops 3 won’t come to PS3/360, the more likely option is that another developer is handling the last-gen version, much like High Moon Studios did with Advanced Warfare.

If/when Activision announces Black Ops 3 for other platforms, we’ll let you know.
