EA Would Rather Spend Money on New Projects Instead of Remastering Games

A Mass Effect remaster might not be happening any time soon, as EA explained it would rather put money into new IPs than remasters.

In an interview with Game Informer, EA Studios Executive Vice President Patrick Söderlund declined to comment when asked about a possible Mass Effect remaster, and instead talked about how it makes more sense for EA and BioWare to put resources into a new IP, rather than a remake of an older game.

I won’t lie and say we haven’t looked at it. But for us, it’s about weighing where we spend our resources. Is it better for them to be working on a completely new IP, which you know BioWare is, or should they be remastering a Mass Effect?

So while Söderlund didn’t completely rule out a Mass Effect remaster, it certainly doesn’t sound like it is a priority for EA or BioWare.
