Bethesda Explains Why Dishonored 2 Wasn’t Fully Showcased at E3 2015

While Bethesda confirmed Dishonored 2‘s existence with a recent announcement trailer and even gave away some information on the game, the developer did not feature any gameplay at E3 2015 last week. In an  interview with Polygon, Bethesda VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines explained why the upcoming stealth game didn’t get the gameplay treatment during the event.

Hines mentioned that since Doom and Fallout 4 received gameplay videos, he did not want Dishonored 2, which is set to come out in the spring of 2016, to have to compete against the other two games. He said that a “similar demo to what we saw for Doom and Fallout 4” will be released for Dishonored 2 somewhere “down the line.”

We thought it would be a couple of months early before we pull the curtain back next to Doom and Fallout 4. I did not wanted to hurry up and announce it during pre-E3 or showcase it next to the other two games. In addition to everyone else had, I had three games that are competing against themselves in my own showcase and two of them are not even going to come out until next year. It felt like it may be too much at once so I kind of pushed that one down the line a little bit in terms of when we want to show the gameplay and do a similar demo to what we saw for Doom and Fallout 4 where we get to see a lot of the game.

Do you hope to see some Dishonored 2 gameplay footage soon?
