Dead Rising Movie Sequel Gets the Green Light at Sony’s Crackle

Crackle’s undead army marches on today, with Variety revealing that the studio has partnered with Legendary to push ahead with zombie-infested sequel, Dead Rising: Endgame

Much like its 2014 predecessor Watchtower, Endgame will duck out of a theatrical release and launch straight to Crackle’s video-on-demand service later this year. It’s unclear exactly how successful the first Dead Rising movie proved to be, considering that Crackle, similarly to Netflix and Hulu, doesn’t disclose viewing figures to the public.

Nevertheless, Eric Berger, General Manager of Crackle claimed that “there was no question that Crackle viewers had an insatiable appetite for this popular and entertaining franchise.”

According to Variety, Dead Rising: Endgame “is set in the zombie-infested quarantined zone of East Mission City. Investigative reporter Chase Carter (played by Jesse Metcalfe) must stop a secret government conspiracy which, though seemingly aimed at ending the country’s zombie epidemic, will also kill millions of innocent civilians.”

Also starring Keegan Connor Tracy, Dennis Haysbert, Billy Zane, Jessica Harmon and Patrick Sabongui, keep your peepers peeled for Dead Rising: Endgame to shuffle onto VOD services in the summer. In the meantime, a preview of Watchtower ought to sate your appetite.
