Rocket League Reaches 12 Million Players Across All Platforms

Having recently revealed that Rocket League has sold nearly four million copies (not counting the July 2015 PlayStation Plus downloads), a representative of developer Psyonix has told GameSpot that the game boasts a community of 12 million players across PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One – where the game launched recently. Prior to the Xbox One release this month, the figure stood at 11 million.

We’re told that 12 million is the total number of people who have played the game and that each individual PlayStation Network ID and Xbox Gamertag is included in this figure. Since Rocket League features split-screen play, not all of the players have purchased a copy, which explains the four million sales figure. Regardless, the game was developed with a budget of $2 million, and is enough of a hit to warrant its recently announced retail release.

In other Rocket League news, the game will receive a Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice car pack on March 8, the details of which are available here.
