Hand of the Gods: SMITE Tactics Coming to PlayStation 4, Sign Up for Closed Beta

I broke the news that Hand of the Gods: SMITE Tactics was coming to consoles in January, but Hi-Rez Studios is finally ready to talk about it in a more official capacity. The Atlanta-based studio announced that players can sign up for the closed alpha of their one-on-one tactical multiplayer game starting today. This move comes after the turn-based collectible card game hit open beta on PC, and the game has changed a lot over the past few months.

“With the help of our community, we’ve created a unique blend of action and strategy supported by amazing visuals that set Hand of the Gods apart from any other game in the genre,” said Hand of the Gods Lead Designer Scott Lussier. “We are now ready to move forward with testing on consoles, and we invite players to join us in bringing Hand of the Gods to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.”

Hi-Rez Studios also revealed that they’re bringing the strategy title to PAX West. It’ll be at the show all four days, and players will be able to compete in a free tournament that has the winner taking home $5,000. “Hand of the Gods has attracted a strong following of CCG and strategy fans, and we want to give back to the community that has grown alongside the game,” said Executive Producer Scott Zier. “At PAX West players will be able to compete in a $5,000 tournament open to all attendees, and the winner will take home not only a cash prize but also two free tickets to Hi-Rez Expo.”

We’ll have an interview going up soon with Hand of the Gods: SMITE Tactics Lead Designer Scott Lussier, but until then you can sign up for the closed beta at the official website.
