Sonic Forces Will Be Playable at Gamescom

SEGA has announced that its upcoming Sonic game Sonic Forces will be playable on the Gamescom show floor. The demo will feature three stages to dash through to get a taste of what the new 3D Sonic title has to offer. SEGA will also have the PC only game Total War: Warhammer II available for demoing.

Here’s more information about the Sonic Forces demo:

Sonic Forces will be showcasing three action-packed stages featuring Modern Sonic, Classic Sonic and an all new, series-first, fully customisable Hero character, blazing through enemy laden levels at breakneck speed. Sonic Forcesputs players in a world already taken over by Dr. Eggman and his evil group of henchmen, which includes Chaos, Metal Sonic, Shadow and Zavok who are ready to create next-level panic and disorder. Come along and check it out on one of our 20 PlayStation 4 stations.

While waiting for more about Sonic Forces, don’t forget that Sonic Mania just released! Check out our review on this new (but old-fashioned) Sonic title:

Just about everyone who regularly plays video games can trace their love of the medium back to one or two formative experiences in their childhood. They’re the moments you find yourself revisiting time and time again in your memory – the ones you wish you could relive, if only to feel excitement and wonder that strongly once more. For me, those formative experiences were playing Pokémon Red and Blue on the original Game Boy and enjoying the original trilogy of Sonic the Hedgehog games on my next-door neighbor’s Sega Genesis. A lot about those old games just grabbed me immediately – the colorful characters, the detailed environments, and yes, the exciting sense of speed. Unfortunately, over the years, my adoration has gone from genuine to a sort of masochistic, ironic laughter at the “so-bad-they’re-amazing” nature of the more recent games in the series (with certain titles, like Sonic Generations, happily excluded from that bunch).

Sonic Forces will release this holiday season on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
