Valkyria Chronicles 4 was just announced yesterday, but the Weekly Famitsu has more information on the latest entry of the Valkyria series. The Granadier class has been revealed, a new class that focuses on long-range and piercing enemy defenses. Thanks to Gematsu for translating the information.
Here is Gematsu’s translation on the Valkyria Chronicles 4 Granadier class:
The new “Grenadier” class can use grenade guns that have long range and high ballistic altitude. By firing it in the sky, you can unleash an attack that flies over the enemy’s cover. If an ally catches hold of the enemy’s location information on the front lines, a Grenadier can attack the enemy without the enemy seeing them. However, they cannot attack an enemy directly in front of them.
Of course, all the familiar classes (Tanks, Scouts, Lancers, and so on) will be making a return with Valkyria Chronicles 4.
Development of Valkyria Chronicles 4 is already 90% complete. Katsura Mikami, producer of Valkyria Revolution, states that Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be a proper evolution of the series, and is set in the same region as the first game.
Need to catch up on the series? Valkryia Chronicles Remastered is your best bet. Here’s our review:
At a time when JRPGs were largely beginning to fall away from mainstream gaming into niche status, Valkyria Chronicles proved that role-playing development in the East could still yield compelling results. Critically acclaimed and garnering a large fan following, SEGA’s blend of traditional tactics and real-time action became one of the great reasons to own a PlayStation 3 in 2008. Now, eight years later, the next version of Sony’s console has revived the old classic — and while Valkyria Chronicles Remastered doesn’t have the same impact its initial version did, it remains a challenging and wholly original piece of work.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 will release in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
