Resident Evil 9 Setting Seems To Have Leaked

Dusk Golem has revealed that the Resident Evil 9 setting could well see the series heading back to Asia.

Resident Evil 9 setting ditching West for East?

According to Dusk Golem, who has been a fairly reliable source of information with Resident Evil, the Resident Evil 9 setting will take its open-world style in a sensible direction by limiting it to a rural Southeast Asian island. As with previous games, the location itself will be fictional.

While Golem cites that the inspiration for the island of the Resident Evil 9 setting is based on Singapore, that would likely be an aesthetic one rather than a geographically accurate one, with Southeast Asian locales such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia more in keeping with a rural island setting.

This news comes as a follow-up to Golem allaying fears that Resident Evil 9 had been internally delayed, which was not the case.

Whatever the Resident Evil 9 setting may be, it’ll likely be the most ambitious Resident Evil yet, with an open world design similar to stablemates Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds.

Away from the continuation of the mainline series, Capcom recently said it will continue to produce Resident Evil remakes following the massive financial and critical success of its previous three attempts (Resident Evil 2-4). It hasn’t revealed which game will get the remake treatment next, but fans are split between Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil 5.
