Hear a Sample From the Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales Soundtrack

Like every other aspect of the franchise, music in The Witcher didn’t get its due recognition until the third entry. Each of the three soundtracks are special in their own right. However, something about The Witcher 3 OST truly took listeners by storm. Given that Marcin Przybyłowicz, the composer for The Witcher 2 and 3, is hard at work on Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales soundtrack, it, too, likely features unbelievable music. In a Twitter post, Przybyłowicz shared a “sneak peek” of his work.

Listen to a tease of the latest Witcher tune in the tweet below:

This bit of music shared by Przybyłowicz sounds reminiscent of the “Whatsoever A Man Soweth…” track featured in The Witcher 3’s Hearts of Stone expansion. Both bear a resemblance to “Ladies of the Woods,” the tune associated with the Witches of Crookback Bog. The salient notes making these pieces of music sound similar suggest a leitmotif, a repeated musical phrase apparent in each song. If so, perhaps it’s meant to denote evil.

For those looking forward to hearing more of Marcin Przybyłowicz’s work, you’re in luck. In addition to composing Thronebreaker, he’s also behind the music for Cyberpunk 2077. During a recent interview, Przybyłowicz’s shared insight into how approaching the sci-fi project is far different from what he’s used to when working with CD Projekt.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales launches on PC on October 23, 2018. Players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can dive into the experience later this year on December 4th.
