The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince release of the week

Release of the Week 2/11/19 – 2/17/19 – The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince

This week marks the debut of quite a few big name releases, including Metro ExodusJump Force, and Far Cry New Dawn. But I’d like to turn everyone’s attention to a possible sleeper hit for the week: The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince. Ignore the NIS nametag on it for a minute and go with me here.

It doesn’t have a big franchise name or feature popular characters from other media, but it appears to have heart. It also appears to be quite adorable. It’s got a fairy tale-like setting, with a wolf that can sing and a literally blind prince. When the prince stumbles upon the wolf singing, he’s mesmerized by the beautiful voice, whereas the wolf is none too pleased. She attacks him, leaving him blind. It turns out he has an asshole for a father, as he throws his son in prison due to his injury. Now the wolf feels bad and wants to help him regain his sight.

To do so, she trades her beautiful singing voice for the ability to turn into a princess at whim. This way, she can lead the blind prince to a witch for healing without letting him know who she is.

In her princess form, she can lead him and give him orders to traverse through the forest. In certain situations, the princess can turn into the wolf, which may be necessary for solving puzzles and protecting the prince from harm. The player will have to balance between these various forms to get the prince to the witch safely.

Everything about this game sounds super cute and super charming. It also has a slight ICO vibe to it, when it comes to leading the blind prince through the forest. Hopefully, he’ll be easier to manage than the princess from ICO.

The storybook qualities only further lend to its charm. Since it is like a storybook, the story should be as charming as it seems to be, although I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be sad. Most fairy tales are sad. If you don’t believe me, just go read the original versions of several Disney fairy tales. The Little Mermaid is a real treat.

If you don’t have your hard-earned money set on the other big names listed above, maybe consider giving this little ditty a shot.
