The Good Life Release Date

Hidetaka ‘SWERY’ Suehiro’s The Good Life Finally Gets an Official Release Date, Coming This October

After numerous delays and changes in publishers, SWERY’s The Good Life has finally received an official release date, launching on October 15, 2021, for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Additionally, a new release date announcement trailer showcases some of the characters of the game as well as Rainy Woods—the small British town in which much of the game is based.

Players will get to explore the town as Naomi, a New York-based photographer that is investigating exactly why the place is known as “the happiest town in the world.” In true SWERY fashion, a strange murder will have players getting to the bottom of the town’s mysteries through interacting with a cast of zany characters. Aside from the main story, players can also take photos, farm crops, save up money and renovate their house, and unlock new clothes and accessories. Naomi will even be able to transform into a cat or dog and get access to even more activities.

The Good Life is a collaborative project between Hidetaka ‘SWERY’ Suehiro’s game studio White Owls Inc. and Yukio Futatsugi’s Grounding Inc. SWERY is most known for his heavily Twin Peaks-inspired cult-classic murder mystery adventure series Deadly Premonition, as well as D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die. Yukio Futatsugi is also the creator of Panzer Dragoon, which received a much-needed remaster for the PS4 last year.

The Good Life has had a fair bit of trouble since its initial announcement back in 2017, from a failed crowdfunding project on Fig to several delays over the course of its four-year development period. The good news is that Playism, a well-known and respected indie publishing company based in Japan, is now handling the project. Playism has previously published other hit indie titles such as Idol Manager, DEEEER Simulator, and Gnosia, to name a few.

The Good Life release date falls on October 15, 2021, launching for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
