Shovel Knight Dig Delayed

Shovel Knight Dig Delayed into 2022, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon has Completed Development

Shovel Knight Dig has been delayed into 2022 because Yacht Club Games “need[s] a little more time.” The good news is that the other Shovel Knight spin-off title, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, has completed development and is on course to be released this winter.

Shovel Knight has diversified since its initial debut as a side-scrolling 2D platformer. Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is a combination of falling-block puzzle game and dungeon crawling. Developed in partnership with Vine, Pocket Dungeon is based on Puzzle Knights Deluxe and features Puzzle Knight as the guide to help Shovel Knight escape the Pocket Dungeon. Accompanied by a nifty little gif, Yacht Club announced Pocket Dungeon had finished development after three years and will be heading to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC this winter, although the release window isn’t more specific than that at the moment.

Part spin-off, part sequel, the now-delayed Shovel Knight Dig features Shovel Knight and his quest to retrieve his treasure from the Drill Knight and his crew of Hexcavators. Yacht Club also took the opportunity to unveil one of the Hexcavators that will make life difficult for Shovel Knight. Scrap Knight spends her days sifting through junk to find those special items, which she then stores in a giant sack she carries on her back. Recently she’s been underground working through a giant pile of rubbish known as the Magic Landfill; when confronting her there you’ll need to be wary of the dangers hidden below the surface.

Shovel Knight Dig Delayed

The game is just the latest in a long line of titles to be delayed out of its initial release window. The game is being developed in partnership with Nitrome and the duo “need a little more time than our initial projected release window”. This means Shovel Knight Dig will now be released at some point in 2022.
