Rumor: Next PS4 and PS5 State of Play Set for February

Two reliable insiders have claimed that the next PlayStation event is set sometime in February 2022. Tom Henderson, who has a stellar track record when it comes to leaks, claims to have heard that Sony has planned a PS4 PS5 State of Play. Henderson’s claim was backed up by Twitter user AccountNGT, who’s also been quite reliable lately. However, AccountNGT ended up removing their tweet.

What can we expect from the next PlayStation State of Play?

Henderson claims that the upcoming State of Play could potentially be a “big” event but he can’t confirm or deny anything. Bethesda’s timed PS5 exclusive Ghostwire Tokyo could potentially be one of the games that’ll be featured at the event as the developer has a press event planned for later this month.

Interestingly, Ghostwire Tokyo recently received its first age rating, indicating that we may get a release date soon. The Shinji Mikami title previously suffered delays due to the ongoing pandemic.

Opinion: The next State of Play doesn’t need to be big but we need to see something new

Zarmena writes… I never get my hopes up when it comes to State of Play events but it’s about time we saw something fresh. Sony continues to boast about dozens of new IP that it has in development at its growing list of PlayStation Studios, but so far, we haven’t seen much of anything. Ghostwire Tokyo‘s release date is welcome, but I sincerely hope that won’t be the only highlight of the event.

In other news, intriguing RPG Showa American Story is in development for PS4, PS5 and PC, and FromSoftware is reportedly working on Armored Core 6.
