Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse Reportedly Won’t Release Until 2027-2028

The Star Wars Eclipse announcement at The Game Awards 2021 was one of the most hyped trailers of the night. While it was immediately obvious that we’d be waiting for it to launch for a while, a report is saying that it may not release until 2027-2028.

When is Star Wars Eclipse’s release date?

According to prominent leaker Tom Henderson via Xfire, his sources state that Star Wars Eclipse won’t launch until 2027 at the earliest. He links the delay to a lack of developer talent. The studio continues to solicit new hires but is having issues filling seats. There are currently 67 jobs posted on Quantic Dream’s recruitment page, and he hypothesizes that the studio originally posted some of these nearly two years ago.

Quantic Dream doesn’t have a stellar reputation, so it’s no surprise that the studio is having issues attracting talent. Even enthusiastic viewers had reservations when they found out who was developing the game.

Of course, it’s best to take this all with a grain of salt. We don’t know who Henderson’s sources are, so we can’t independently verify his claims. He’s had a good track record concerning Battlefield and some other titles, but no leaker is correct 100% of the time.

Star Wars Eclipse will be the studio’s first action-adventure game and seems more ambitious than its previous titles. It’ll be set in the High Republic era that Disney is pushing hard right now and will feature multiple playable protagonists, each with branching narratives. It’ll take place in the Outer Rim and will likely show never-before-seen planets and species.

Star Wars has been more hit than miss lately, and it’d be great to see Quantic Dream come through with a fantastic game. While we may have a long wait ahead of us, it might end up being worth it.

In other news, Gran Turismo 7 will get new cars and courses in future updates and Housemarque is working on its next game.
