An iconic PS4 horror game sequel has officially received its PlayStation 5 release date. The next installment arrives more than a decade after Supermassive Games‘ original title.
Until Dawn 2, the second chapter in the popular horror franchise, will launch exclusively for PS5 on January 28, 2027. A new trailer has confirmed that players can pre-order the game starting September 10, 2026. The upcoming sequel is developed by Firesprite and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The official description for Until Dawn 2 reads, “Ready to die for likes? Join a team of ambitious ghost hunters as they chase their next viral hit on a remote island haunted by a woman’s chilling story of demons and ghostly phenomena.”
What is happening in Until Dawn 2’s trailer?
Until Dawn 2 trailer sees the Dead True crew investigating Blackwood Sanitorium. They are shooting an episode while covering the tragic events that unfolded 12 years ago. New intern Izzy discovers something shocking before upending their plans in a chilling fashion.
The video then shows the team meeting Yuna at the HorrorCon in Sydney. She’s a mysterious survivor of a terrifying supernatural attack. She pulls down her collar to reveal a dark, disturbing scar. Her warning then sets the team on a journey to a remote South Pacific island named Akishima, where dark supernatural secrets await.
On the island, the story will present various choices for the crew members, where they need to decide wisely before acting quickly – or it’s game over.
There’s also a disturbing moment in the trailer where the Dead True’s co-host Mina faces a gut-wrenching demand. The network asks her for a live ritual sacrifice of a chicken, on camera. She faces the option to either let it go or please the bosses by going for the kill. The game will have various instances like these throughout the story.
Dr. Hill will also return from the original Until Dawn, alongside the new characters.
Until Dawn 2 comes out January 28, 2027, on PS5.
