Activision & Terminal Reality Working On First-Person Action Game Based On AMC’s The Walking Dead

Activision has revealed that Terminal Reality is developing a first-person action title based on AMC’s hit television series, The Walking Dead.

The publisher announced the game today, which tells the story of brothers Daryl Dixon (the player’s character) and Merle, who are trying to make their way to Atlanta (a city allegedly safe from the undead). Zombies will hunt the brothers using sight, sound, and smell. Players can choose between fighting zombies or using stealth to try to get past them undetected.

Players will need to keep a close eye on resources, as food, ammunition, and supplies will be in short supply. Daryl will also encounter a number of characters along his journey, who may want to help him or possibly hurt him. The player can opt to have characters accompany Daryl or not — just one example of the major choices that players will have to make as they try to survive.

The game is scheduled to be released in 2013 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. It appears to be a retail release, as there is placeholder retail box art on the game’s official site, which can be seen below. To view a teaser trailer for the game, check out IGN.

The game is different than Telltale’s adventure game series based on The Walking Dead, which is based more on the comics.
