Square Enix: Final Fantasy Versus XIII Not Canceled

July 24, 2012Written by Alex Osborn

Despite recent rumors suggesting Final Fantasy Versus XIII had officially kicked the bucket, Square Enix has confirmed that the game is still alive and well.

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada debunked the reports that Versus XIII was canceled on Twitter, saying that he just attended a meeting on the game’s progress today, and it’s apparently shaping up quite nicely. Well, considering the fact that it has been in the works for the past six some-odd years, I’d hope they’ve made some favorable headway.

Wada also said that fans will be surprised to see how well the game is coming along, noting that the city setting is particularly impressive. Just last week, Square announced that they’ll be making some major Final Fantasy XIII related announcements on September 1st. Will they finally show us running footage of Versus XIII, or will the event be limited to the expected Final Fantasy XIII-3 reveal?

Let us know what you think Square plans to reveal in the comments below.
