Retro City Rampage Developer on Overall Sales, PlayStation Plus Downloads, PS4 and PS Vita

Brian Provinciano, the creator and developer of Retro City Rampage, did a Twitter Q&A yesterday on the RCR account, answering some questions about the game itself and what we can expect from him in the future.

Starting with what’s coming next, Brian was asked if he still wants to release on PlayStation platforms, to which he responded with:

Of course. PlayStation, Nintendo and Steam. I’ll be supporting more Vita and PS4, might even do PS3 also depending when it’s done.

He then elaborated on what might come next by saying, “Lots of ideas, still deciding on which to go with.” If you’re thinking one of those ideas might be DLC, Brian noted that “it’s possible but nothing in the works on that front.”

Over the weekend, some incorrect sales charts for Retro City Rampage from GDC were posted, causing this to be posted:

Those sales numbers circulating for Retro City Rampage are incorrect. All you need to know is that it’s sold around 100,000 units total.

That total includes PlayStation Vita, PS3, XBLA, PC, and WiiWare (which the latter “has not generated dev revenue or hit the threshold”) numbers, but doesn’t account for all the free PlayStation Plus downloads, where “there were well over another 100,000 PS+ users on top of that.”

Finally, how many people beat the game was discussed:

Didn’t track mission completion, but 85% of PlayStation players (160K) achieved 500K+ points which means they got far.

Did you beat Retro City Rampage? Did you pay for it or get it free on PS+? Would you buy the next game from VBlank? Let us know in the comments below.
