PS4 Nets Most gamescom 2014 Coverage, Event Catching Up to E3 in Terms of PR Impact

While E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is still the top dog when it comes to gaming events every year, it seems gamescom is quickly catching up — according to PR and online analytics firm ICO Partners, who compared data from both E3 and gamescom,

In ICO Partners’ data, the PlayStation 4 came away as the console with the most coverage for both E3 and gamecom. For last month’s gaming event held in Germany, the PS4 netted a total of 10,929 articles. In comparison, the Xbox One managed a total of 8,043, with Nintendo faring worse amassing only 1,563 articles for both the Wii U and Wii combined. One big attribute to Nintendo’s lack of coverage is, of course, the company’s decision to not host press events in gamescom.

As for E3, the PS4 was featured in over 16,000 articles, the Xbox One collecting 11,433, withe Wii U faring way better compared to gamescom with 6,271 pieces.

Which convention do you prefer, gamescom or E3? And is it surprising the PS4 got the most coverage out of every platform?
