We want to focus on some positivity this week, so we asked the staff what their favorite part of gaming is. So without further ado, let’s jump into that gaming love and see what everyone had to say.

Alex Co (@Excaliburps)

The thrill of being able to do stuff I couldn’t do in real life. Also, being someone you’re not and living it out. I want to say something intelligent and whatnot, but that’s it, really.

Cameron Teague (@Cameron_PSLS)

The way you can find yourself completely immersed in an experience unlike any other form of media out there. You are a part of the experience, you have a say in how it unfolds and what kind of experience you have.

Chandler Wood (@FinchStrife)

It may seem like the typical buzzwords, but the immersion and challenge that games provide. They give me something to work towards, while providing me with experiences, stories, and things that I just can’t get anywhere else. Gaming is MY thing, something that I can be passionate about and love, and I wouldn’t give it up for anything.

D’yani Wood (@Dyani)

My favorite thing is that gaming is a solid and unique art form now. I can feel so many feels and explore new things to think about with games, and all while sitting on a comfy couch!

Dan Oravasaari (@FoolsJoker)

There are a lot of things to love about gaming, but the best part about it to me is the comradery that you can find between gamers. Despite the number of trolls that lurk around the web, you can still find common ground with complete strangers and meet people you would not normally interact with.

Heath Hindman (@TheHeathHindman)

The interactivity allows the medium to explore places with story and narrative that movies, books, and stage shows can’t.

Louis Edwards (@ftwrthtx)

The escape from reality. As a chronic pain sufferer for the last 20+ years, nothing else works better for pain management than jumping into a virtual world where your physical limitations are decided by game developers and not by life in general. Whether it’s pitching a perfect game for the Rangers, taking on the Hive in Destiny, or rushing to the endzone for Dallas, the escape of real life is always just a PS button press away.

Zarmena Khan (@Zarmena)

The immersion. There are certain games that might not be considered one of the top ten games of all times by critics, but they’re my personal all-time favorite games because I was sucked into the in-game world and spent countless hours just enjoying what it had to offer. I love it when that happens.
