The Evil Within Update Removes Letterboxing, Game Can Be Played in Full Screen

With the new The Evil Within update now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, console players now have the option of removing the cinematic letterbox, while all platforms have seen a re-balance to the Casual difficulty.

Here’s the list of patch notes for today’s update:

  • Console players can now remove the cinematic letterbox and play the game in full screen mode.
  • Casual difficulty has been rebalanced to be more forgiving to players with increased ammo amounts and adjustments to the game’s health bar.

While the full screen option was given to PC players shortly after launch, The Evil Within Twitter account said in December that there were “no plans for changing [the letterboxing] on consoles.” Due to community feedback though, the option is now available as a toggle in the menu.

Will you be playing The Evil Within and all its Season Pass DLC with the letterboxing turned off?
