Newest Gwent Challenger Tournament Takes Place This Weekend

CD Projekt Red has announced that a new Gwent Challenger tournament is taking place this weekend, making it the next in a series of official tournaments based around the card game. The December 2017 Challenger will collect 8 of the best players from across the Gwent esports scene as they fight for their share of a $100,000 prize pool.

The tournament will open with quarterfinal play on Saturday, December 16, with the semifinals and final set to take place the next day, December 17. All matches will be livestreamed over on the official CD Projekt Red Twitch channel, and can be followed along via the Gwent Masters Twitter, which will be posting regular updates on the tournament throughout the event. Using the “Twitch drops” feature on the streaming site, viewers will be able to earn rewards such as Card Kegs, a special player title, as well as the winner of the tournament’s favorite card. More information on that can be found on Gwent’s site.

The tournament will be hosted by Critical Role’s Matthew Mercer and Marisha Ray. Commentating along with the games will be Gwent players and streamers: Connagh “Merchant” Hawkins, Dane “McBeard” McBurnie, Miguel “MegaMogwai” Guerrero León, and David “ImpetuousPanda” Gil Nolskog. Sean “Swim” Huguenard will join them as the tournament’s main analyst.
