Apache: Air Assault Coming to the PS3

Today Activision announced that they would be reviving the Apache franchise on the PS3 with Apache: Air Assault, developed by the guys that brought you IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, Gaijin Entertainment.

The game will focus on none other than helicopter combat, giving you a wide variety of Apache attack helicopters to choose from. Each will be outfitted with cutting-edge military weapons. Prevent terrorist attacks by raining down destruction from above in the world’s most volatile warzones.

Apache: Air Assault comes jam packed with more then 16 multi-stage missions involving air and ground strike operations off the coast of Africa, the mountains of the Middle East and the jungles of Central America, each meticulously created using high resolution map data from real-world satellite photography.

Apache: Air Assault also will cater to your play style. For those more inclined to blow everything up there is Arcade mode which will allow you to easily pick up and play. For those more serious gamer there is Realistic Mode which will show the more realistic side of helicopter battles.

For those that like company in your game the campaign can also be played co-op with one player as the pilot and the other the co-pilot. There will also be a competitive online multiplayer with a variety of game modes (Team Deathmatch, Ground Attack, Capture the LZ, and Ground Strike.)

No games on next-gen consoles have been dedicated to helicopter combat simulation, but that is about to change this autumn. Apache: Air Assault offers fun for diehard military enthusiasts and flight sim fans as well as gamers who just want to blow stuff up.

Although no sold release date was given the press release does state we will be getting out hands on Apache: Air Assault this Fall.
