Future Dragon Age Game May Feature Online Multiplayer, DICE’s Frostbite 2 Engine

It seems that Mass Effect isn’t the only long running BioWare franchise to potentially feature online multiplayer. You can now add Dragon Age to the list of games that allow you to play with your friends. Citing “inside sources” rumors sprung up this morning across the internet claiming that the next entry in the Dragon Age franchise will allow multiple players to face off in variety of modes.

Since this is BioWare we are talking about, don’t expect your standard Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch to be all there is on offer. According to reports, the game may also feature co-op play similar to the multiplayer being developed for Mass Effect 3. By far the coolest addition is the ability to play as Dragons!  This addition has players taking to the skies and breathing fire down on their enemies in real-time. Color us excited!

The game is apparently early on in development using DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine. This means we could very well see some realistic destruction physics in the next Dragon Age game! No word on a possible release date either, but with Mass Effect 3 being released in March 2012 for PS3 & other platforms it is a safe bet we are looking at Fall 2012 at the earliest if not Spring 2013.
