Drakengard 3 Releasing for PS3 in North America and Europe Next Year, Check Out the Announcement Trailer

In a nice surprise, Square Enix announced today that they’ll be bringing Drakengard 3 to North America and Europe, exclusively on the PS3. Priced at $49.99, it appears that the game will be available at retail, the PSN, and pre-order on the Square Enix Online Store in North America, with Europe getting it solely on the PSN.

To get yourself up to speed with Drakengard 3, here’s the game description from Square Enix, along with an announcement trailer:

A prequel to the original Drakengard, Drakengard 3 transports players to a medieval world where six goddess-like sisters known as ‘Intoners’ have brought peace to the earth with their power to manipulate magic through song. Harmony is disrupted, however, when the eldest sister, Zero, attempts to murder her younger sisters with the help of her dragon companion, Mikhail. As the story progresses, players find themselves in a battle to unravel the mystery of Zero and learn her true intentions.

Featuring the series’ signature brand of action, Drakengard 3 pits players against hordes of fiends and foes in remorseless hack-and-slash ground combat, and then sends them soaring for pitched aerial battles on the back of Mikhail.

Also, Lee Williams, Community Manager at Square Enix, addressed concerned European fans over the fact that Drakengard 3 is digital only in their region:

Hey guys and girls, sorry to hear you’re not happy with the digital release in Europe – we’re listening to your feedback and I’ll pass it on to the team. Still, there’s quite some time between now and release, so if there are any changes I will make sure you know about it!
