PlayStation VR Launch Title EVE: Valkyrie Gets a Gameplay Trailer

With EVE: Valkyrie now available on Oculus Rift, CCP Games released a gameplay trailer for the game, which will also be available on PlayStation VR at launch in October 2016.

A virtual reality multiplayer space combat game set in the EVE Universe, CCP Games says EVE: Valkyrie is “the most intuitive, intense, and immersive dogfighting game ever made.”

Here’s the description:

In EVE: Valkyrie, you are an elite space fighter pilot who has recently become immortal, thanks to the efforts of Rán Kavik, leader of the breakaway pirate group known as the Valkyrie. As a newly-recruited member of the Valkyrie, you will battle rival pirate factions for wealth, supremacy, and notoriety.

Features

  • Bleeding-edge virtual reality gameplay
  • Gorgeous, immersive AAA visuals and production
  • Competitive social multiplayer action
  • Single-player PVE modes
  • Skill-based character progression and ship upgrades
  • Rich EVE Universe setting and deep backstory

In the official FAQ, CCP Games says, “There are currently only plans for digital distribution on both PC and PS4.” As of right now, the Oculus version of the game is priced at $59.99 USD and content updates like new maps, new ships, and new gameplay additions will be added for free. Micro-transactions, meanwhile, come in the form of XP boosters, premium ship skins, decals, interiors, and more, but EVE: Valkyrie “is not designed to require” them.

As for the possibility of EVE: Valkyrie going free-to-play, CCP Games said:

We haven’t made any decisions about that yet. It’s really too early to tell. No one knows what the best experience for customers will be in VR, and we hope to learn that and adjust to it along with our community.

Will EVE: Valkyrie be one of the first games you get for PlayStation VR?
