Blizzard Continues to Tease New Overwatch Character

Blizzard is continuing to drop clues about who will be Overwatch‘s next playable character. Recently the Diablo and World of Warcraft developer profiled a new character named Efi Oladele who happens to be an 11-year-old science prodigy. This spurred conversation that she would be the next character to be added, but the company then clarified that she wasn’t playable. Now they’re back with a fictional news report that they posted on their official Twitter account.

Blizzard attached the image seen above that depicts a recent airport attack in Numbani. Here’s what the tweet says:

[BREAKING] OR15 defense units destroyed in confrontation with unidentified assailant at Numbani airport. No civilian casualties reported.

If Numbani sounds familiar, that’s because it’s one of the first-person shooter’s maps. It’s also where the Doomfist exhibit is located, and where the rumored character’s gauntlet is displayed. This has naturally led to speculation that the tweet could be teasing Doomfist as the next character, but who really knows at this point. It’s clear that Blizzard is having fun teasing the community, and they’ll most likely continue to expand the universe with additional posts soon.

Other fan speculation involves a four-legged robot called Anchora, who has appeared in the background of several trailers. A 4chan post, which successfully leaked the news about the Lunar New Year event, lends credence to this theory as the post says the next character would be “a female omnic quadruped.”

Feel free to speculate in the comments below who you think will be the next Overwatch character?
