Over the weekend, NieR: Automata director Yoko Taro tweeted out his desire to see a PlayStation Vita successor (we want one as well). He told fans that he wants a “slightly smaller next-gen handheld console” that does what smartphones can’t do.
You can check out his tweet below followed by a translation courtesy of Siliconera:
VITA の後継機が欲しいなあ。Switch が出たから少し気持ちは落ち着いてるけど、もうちょっと小型の次世代携帯ゲーム機が触りたい。物理キーの無いスマートフォンでは満たされない欲望を満たしたい。

I want to see a Vita successor. That feeling has calmed down a bit after the release of Switch, but I want to play something on a slightly smaller next-gen handheld console. I want something that could satisfy my itch that can’t be done through a smartphone without physical buttons.
While communicating with fans, he also spoke of having something like a keyboard to make chatting on the Vita easier as some felt that the touch screen can make it a bit inconvenient at times.
Do our readers agree with Yoko Taro?
