EA Clarifies Star Wars Battlefront II Co-Op Exclusivity, Season Pass Statement

Following yesterday’s Star Wars Battlefront II reveal event, some conflicting information came to light regarding the game’s offline co-op mode and Season Pass, which Electronic Arts later had to clarify.

An article on Xbox Wire erroneously claimed that Battlefront II‘s offline co-op will be exclusive to Microsoft’s console. However, this is not the case. An EA representative has told several outlets including Game Informer that the feature is available on both, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it won’t be coming to PC. Simply put, it’s console-exclusive as opposed to Xbox-exclusive. The original article has since been updated.

With regards to the Season Pass, the game’s creative director Bernd Diemer told Mashable in an interview that Battlefront II won’t have a Season Pass because DICE doesn’t want to split its community and that it has something “different” and “better” in mind. It looks like Diemer’s statement came a bit too soon as people jumped to all sorts of conclusions, prompting EA to send the following statement to Mashable:

While we’re not ready to confirm any live service plans just yet, what we can say is this we heard the feedback from our Battlefront community loud and clear. We know they want more depth, more progression, and more content. So we’re focused on delivering that in every dimension of Star Wars Battlefront II. We’ll have more to share about our plans soon.

Although it seems that the traditional Season Pass has been dropped, it’s clear that EA is looking into some kind of a replacement that it’s not ready to share yet so hold your horses.
