Overwatch Anniversay Event Loot Boxes Criticized, Blizzard Responds

Overwatch‘s Anniversary Event came with its own set of exclusive items that players have noted are so expensive compared to previous events that it’s difficult to obtain the ones you want even by grinding as its a limited-time event.

Over on Reddit, one player reported that out of 50 loot boxes, he got just one event skin. Another user said that out of 70 loot boxes, he got a ton of duplicates and only three event skins. All of this makes it even more difficult for players to unlock exclusive items, resulting in a lot of criticism that caught Blizzard’s attention.

Game Director Jeff Kaplan responded on Battle.net with the following:

I just wanted to acknowledge that we’ve been following the threads about the loot box rewards as they pertain to the anniversary events, other events and loot boxes in general. The feedback and suggestions have been helpful to us. We had a really great discussion yesterday about the feedback we’ve been hearing this week. While I don’t have any immediate action items to report, I thought it was important for you to know that we are listening.

While this might not be any immediate consolation, it looks like Blizzard plans to address the issue going forward.
