Injustice 2 Was the Highest Grossing Console Title in Q2 2017

Like the Flash, Injustice 2 quickly sped to the front of the pack.

Time Warner’s second quarter of the fiscal year runs from April to June, and according to their earnings report, Injustice 2 took the spot as the top grossing console game for that period, despite launching halfway through it on May 16th. It’s an impressive feat that is backed by the NPD reports for both May and June showing Injustice 2 in that pole position.

It ought to be noted that this means Injustice 2 sales were enough to outsell many other well established games in half the time, beating out the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Prey (which very quickly fell off the sales charts after its release), and the continued bizarre success story that is Grand Theft Auto V.

This triumph comes after the DC fighter was very well received by critics, with our own Paulmichael Contreras said that “fighting game and DC fans alike should add this game to their collection as soon as possible.” Well PMC, it looks like they took your suggestion to heart.

“Injustice 2 may have the best single-player campaign of any fighting game. NetherRealm has hit a solid groove with their fighting games. A few new blocking mechanics help to add a touch more balance to the game’s environmental damage options, and the loot system is second to none.”

We’ll have to wait for future NPD reports to see how Injustice 2 performed beyond June 30th. Are one of the people that contributed to Injustice 2’s success in May and June?
