Addressing fan concerns about Star Wars Battlefront, Uprise (a studio working with DICE on the game) Producer Jesper Nielsen went on Reddit recently to respond to someone who asked if space battles were taken out of the full game to be added as DLC later:
No. Please donāt make me break what I can and cannot say, but if you think thereās anything weāre not including in the game to save it for DLC, I can tell you youāre 100% wrong. In this project, Iāve never heard anyone say āLetās not do this for launch so we can do it as DLC insteadā. Ever.
Later on, he added that they are still discussing space āevery now and againā and they āknow it has some very exciting prospects.ā This isnāt confirmation itās happening, but as Nielsen mentions, āWeāre not saying that space battles are evil and that we will never, ever touch them with a ten-foot pole.ā
In a separate thread, Nielsen reiterated that Battlefront will ship with more than eight maps and the amount of in-game content has nothing to do with DLC:
I cannot stress this enough; there will be more than 8 maps! š
Also, the amount of content in the game has absolutely zero to do with DLC. I can say that with all honesty.
As for expanding on strengths of the previous games; I think most people will find that it does expand on the strengths of the previous games, when it comes to core gameplay and what the feeling of a Battlefront game is. Just my two cents.
In yet another thread, this time regarding the Star Wars Battlefront trailer that featured in-engine PS4 footage, he said, āI donāt like making hard guarantees. The game hasnāt shipped yet. Weāre not done with it. But this is how it looks right now ā on PS4 as well, yes.ā
If you pre-order Star Wars Battlefront on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC prior to launch this November, youāll receive early access to the free Battle of Jakku DLC. As Nielsen explains, the Jakku maps were never removed from the main game for DLC purposes. The idea for the maps came ācame quite late in the process and we didnāt have capacity to add them for launch, so we found a way to get them out to people as soon as possible after launch.ā
