Blizzard Exploring Diablo III Micro-Transactions in Some Regions, Doesn’t Include the West

We recently shared details of the upcoming Diablo III patch 2.2.0, which focuses on adding new content and features to the game. However, some of the features included in the patch that may show up in data mined information do not apply to all regions. Knowing that questions will pop up later, Blizzard has taken to its forums to offer a clarification in advance. The company has said that the following list of features will not apply to Americas or Europe:

  • A new currency called “Platinum”
  • Timed experience boosts
  • New cosmetic items including wings, non-combat pets, and character portraits
  • References to stash space and character slot expansions
  • A new UI interface that references the above information

Community Manager, Nevalistis, wrote with reference to micro-transactions:

We recognize that many players have expressed an interest in microtransactions being added to Diablo III. While we may explore this model in some regions, we have no immediate plans to implement such purchases or the aforementioned features anytime soon for the Americas region.

It is believed that micro-transactions will only be introduced in Asian markets for now.

Do our readers in the West want to see micro-transactions in Diablo III at some point?
