The Giant’s Shadow map will be added to Battlefield 1 on December 20 through a free game update, EA and DICE announced today. If you pre-ordered Battlefield 1, or have purchased the Premium Pass, you’ll get early access starting on December 13.
“With a massive crashed airship casting its shadow onto the battlefield, Giant’s Shadow brings fierce combat on the open ground and river banks alongside the Cateau-Wassigny railway,” the description says. “Battle of the Selle, 1918. British forces have broken through the Hindenburg line and are heading towards a strategic railway center. The outcome is uncertain. An armored train can still turn the tide.”
Towards the end of the trailer, the Grenade Crossbow is shown off, which is a powerful addition to the Support class’s arsenal and can silently fire two Fragmentation or High Explosive grenades.
In the fineprint, EA adds that those with a pre-order code for Giant’s Shadow will need to enter it on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, or Origin Store beginning on December 13 to download the Giant’s Shadow map. The early access period will then end on December 20 when the update goes live.
The first Battlefield 1 expansion pack, They Shall Not Pass, is scheduled for March 2017.
