PS4 Pre-Orders Tracking “Way Over” Those of the PS2 and PS3, “It’s a Good Problem to Have”

Shining a little bit more light on the PS4 pre-orders that were revealed to be over 1 million worldwide, Fergal Gara, VP & Managing Director at SCE UK and Ireland (via VideoGamer), said that it’s “greater than a million.” Though he wouldn’t give out specific numbers, Fergal added that “the UK represents a very healthy slug of that. We’re undeniably seeing a sea change.”

Looking at the PS4 pre-orders as of right now, Gara notes that it’s “way over and above and beyond the pre-order number at launch day” for the PS2 and PS3, meaning that the PS4 could be the biggest console launch for Sony in quite some time.

Because of all those people putting money down on their PS4 already, Fergal anticipates it to be sold out in various countries, with Sony “doing everything we can to secure every last unit… so we can do our very best to meet the demand as it stands for day one.”

Fergal then noted, “It’s a little bit of a problem, but it’s [a] good problem to have.”
