During PlayStation’s E3 LiveCast yesterday, Mortal Kombat Creator took the stage to discuss Mortal Kombat X, revealing some new characters (skip to the 1:00 mark), showing off some PS4 gameplay (starts at 2:50 and runs throughout), highlighting the fact that each character has three variations of fighting style (1:25), and more.
If you don’t feel like watching the video, here’s a look at the shown fighters:
- Cassie Cage – Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage’s daughter (has a combination of their moves)
- D’Vorah – Half Insect/Half Human
- Ferra/Torr (see in action at 7:30)
- Kotal Kahn

While not naming anyone, Boon talked about how there will be familiar characters within Mortal Kombat X, along with new characters and new gameplay elements. Boon also wouldn’t confirm the bad guy, just teasing that “it’s going to be a surprise returning character. Not a lot of people will see it coming.”
As well, Boon addressed the game’s plot by saying, “The story takes place over the span of… right after MK9 ended and it goes as far as 25 years into the future. So you’re going to see some aged MK characters, you’re going to see some next generation stuff, we’re really taking a dramatic approach to the story.”
He then confirmed that Mortal Kombat X was running at native 1080p/60fps.
