No Man’s Sky Update 1.3 Being Teased for August

A document found within the alternate reality game Waking Titan seems to be hinting that the next No Man’s Sky update (1.3) will be out in August. For those who don’t know of the background, the mysterious ARG linked to No Man’s Sky has been sending cryptic messages about the game for a month. We briefly covered it here but if you want more details, this page and the source listed below do a good job of explaining what’s been going on.

Long story short, Waking Titan players recently found a PDF, which states:

We want to extend our gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the Mercury Subroutine so far. We hope you have enjoyed the successful distribution of 180 Access IDs, and we hope you will also appreciate the other interesting artifacts we have in store for you going forward. We intend to keep the process alive until the completion of Project Waking Titan in August. It is important to mention that we are very excited by the coming Phases 2 and 3. Input from the Mercury Subroutine will pave the way toward new experiences in version 1.3 of a familiar universe. We look forward to the successful conclusion of this ground-breaking experiment. Regards. S.M.

“180 access IDs” likely refers to the 180 free copies of No Man’s Sky that have been distributed among Waking Titan players so far, and you’ve probably already guessed who signed off the document with those initials – Sean Murray.

Players are convinced that “1.3 of a familiar universe” refers to the next No Man’s Sky update. The game’s last patch, 1.24, released in March.

We’ll keep our readers posted.
