NieR, Drakengard Creative Team’s Tabletop RPG ‘Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars’ Headed to PS4, Demo Out Now

Square Enix has announced that its tabletop-style role-playing game, Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, will release on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 28th. Brought to you by the folks behind NieR and Drakengard series – Yoko Taro, Yosuke Saito, Keiichi Okabe, and Kimihiko Fujisaka – the game is set in a world of swords and sorcery, and its story is told entirely through the medium of cards.

You can check out a demo via the PlayStation Store now.

In Voice of Cards, the protagonist sets out to defeat a dragon threatening the land and people. Motivated by an “immense reward,” he travels with his companions – a friendly monster and a witch – to take the dragon down.

“Every element of the game is presented through beautifully illustrated cards, from the characters you meet and the battles you face, through to the items you purchase from the armorer or the skills you acquire,” reads a post on the PlayStation Blog. “As you move your avatar across the board (with terrain also depicted by cards) you’ll come face-to-face with a menagerie of monsters and must take them on in a tactical turn-based battle system using skills, weapons and the roll of the dice.”

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars will come with a special bundle set that includes the game as well as the following NieR Replicant themed items:

  • Dress of the Bereft
  • Emil’s Pattern
  • Emil Avatar
  • Emil Dice
  • Grimoire Weiss Board
  • Library Desk
  • Devola’s Music

The demo covers the events prior to the beginning of the game.
