Dynasty Warriors Producer Wants to Make a Star Wars Hack and Slash Game

With Star Wars all the rage at the moment, another potential contender for a game set in that universe has appeared. When Dynasty Warriors Producer Akihiro Suzuki was asked with which existing franchise he would love to create a Dynasty Warriors Musou crossover game, he replied Star Wars would be his ideal world to adapt.

A Star Wars x Dynasty Warriors crossover game

Developer Omega Force has been discussing future franchise crossovers. In an interview with JP Games, Suzuki explained how “a lot of different IPs and works have been brought up” already and how “my own personal wish would be for a Star Wars crossover”. The team has already created Musou games in the Zelda, Dragon Quest, One Piece, Fire Emblem, and Persona franchises but a sci-fi setting would be a new challenge for the team.

There are plenty of Star Wars games in development at the moment. Quantic Dream is developing Star Wars Eclipse, Aspyr is remaking Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, there’s an open world Star Wars game in development at Ubisoft Massive, and Respawn is in charge of three different Star Wars games including a new title in the Star Wars Jedi franchise. There’s also LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga for a more comedic take on the universe. A Star Wars Musou title would certainly be a different type of game than those already in development.

Meanwhile, Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is due to release on February 15 for PS4 and PS5. Combining hack ‘n’ slash action with strategy, players go on another conquest to conquer ancient China. Those wanting to try before they buy can download the free demo from the PlayStation Store right now.

In other news, Dying Light 2’s day one patch contained more than 1000 bug fixes and gameplay improvements for all platforms. Elsewhere, Rockstar has confirmed they’re developing a brand new Grand Theft Auto game but failed to mention whether it will actually be called GTA VI.
