gamescom 2014: Bloodborne Will be Less Punishing to Accommodate More Players
We loved From Software’s Bloodborne trailer shown during Sony’s gamescom 2014 press conference. It looks eerie and fantastic at the same time, but those who feel discouraged by the difficulty level in the Souls games might want to take note that Bloodborne will be “much less punishing,” according to the developer.
Producer Masaaki Yamagiwa said that From Software is aiming to target a wider audience and although it doesn’t want to disappoint Souls fans, the developer wants more people to share the experience.
In terms of who the game is aimed at, and who we want to capture in terms of the audience, obviously we can’t betray or disappoint the fans out there. They’re very, very important. They’ll be the main ambassadors of the game. [But] we do want more people to share this experience. You died a lot in the previous games, and you had to persevere, but one of our main goals with this game is that we don’t want to focus on punishing the player.
Yamagiwa also said that the public demo for gamescom 2014 attendees has been toned down so players shouldn’t feel disappointed if they find it “too easy.”
Would a lower difficulty level deter you from playing Bloodborne?
