Blizzard recently posted a new job listing for a game director for an unannounced project for Diablo, which dredged up a great number of questions. Is this a new Diablo game? Is it another Diablo expansion like Reaper of Souls? And what happened to Josh Mosqueira, who has been the game director for Diablo III?

The company issued a statement to Polygon, explaining that Mosqueira has left Blizzard, hence the need to hire a new game director.

With Diablo III in a good place at this point, Josh felt that now was a good time to pursue other opportunities with minimal impact to the team. We’ll be filling the director role either from within Blizzard or externally.

Mosqueira had been with Blizzard since 2011. He replaced former game director Jay Wilson in 2013 when he left Blizzard.

The job listing is looking for someone who is “knowledgeable and passionate about Diablo games” and who can “lead the Diablo series into the future.”

Hope this means Diablo will return to consoles as well with future releases.
